Sacid Aker

I was born in 1956 in Ankara, Turkey, and graduated as a chemical engineer. I am married and have two sons. I live in Mersin, Turkey.

I started my life of photography using a manual analog camera on 1974. It was my buddy.  During my graduation years, I took pictures like a journalist. It was fantastic to spent many hours in the darkroom. I became a member of AFSAD, Ankara Amateur Union of Photography and Cinema, in 1978.

I joined to KASK, Amateur Photographers Club of Kocaeli, and I worked as secretary between 1981-1985.

In 1986, I played a major role in establishing MFD (Photography Club of Mersin, formerly IFAD), where I worked many years as a chairman and at different roles in the steering committee.

I don’t like to participate to photo contests, but I took place as a jury member of some photo contests. I participated as a lecturer to almost 50 sessions of training courses in photography.

It wasn’t easy for me to give up in taking analog pictures and move to digital photography, but it was inevitable. I love taking pictures and sharing them, although I am more focused on organization part of photography. Portraits are my main focus. I am also interested in taking landscape photos. Because of being an engineer, geometrical figures are attracting me a lot.
