Faruk Akbas

Faruk Akbas, one of the foremost travel and documentary photographers of Turkey, has been taking photographs professionally for more than 35 years worldwide.
In his photography he focuses on human  in his/her own environment. Nature,  cultural and historical values are the main subjects in his narrative photography. 

His artworks have being published in international newspapers and magazines such as National Geographic and Daily Telegraph, as well as the most popular magazines and newspapers of the country. 
Since 1995, as the author of Photography Magazine, the artist has been publishing many books such as Photography Guide of Turkey, Travel Photography, Photography in Digital World, Photography in Pocket and Practical Composition in Photography.
In 1993, Akbas founded The Photography House in İstanbul, which is known with photography exhibitions, and workshops . In 1999 he established Art Camp. 
Addition to his photography he has been producing several documentary films such as " Travelling Far Away" (photography trips to Asia and Africa), "Life in Nature" , "Costumes of Anatolia" and "Pursuit of Light".
The artist has been participating the jury in various film and photography competitions.
