Behiç Günalan
Journalist and photographer Günalan was born in Istanbul in 1952. He studied Turkish Literature at the university and his journey in photography started with journalism. In years he moved from journalistic photography to art photography. History, culture, nature and inevitably people of the city Edirne, where the photographer lives, have always been inspiring him for his art.
Günalan held his first solo exhibition “Photograph never gets old” in 1995. His exhibition “Edirne - Brucke zum Orient” was presented in Germany in 2007. Except his several solo exhibitions in Bulgaria and Hungary, the photographer has participated to more than 200 international collective exhibitions.
The photographer, who has a big analogue archive, has been awarded several times in national and international competitions and invited several times as jury member. Besides his photography lectures and workshops in Art Academy of Trakya University, he published a documentary book “The Gloom of Migration”.
The artist was entitled to EFIAP (Excellence FIAP) by FIAP (Fédération de Internationale deI’Art Photographique ). Gunalan is always an active member and the executive manager of several NGOs and civil associations.
